The domain is managed by Eric Rousseau, with the help of his daughter Cyrielle. It has expanded over the years and today covers 15 hectares and 3 ares. They own 3 hectares of Village appellation, 3 hectares 77 of Premier Crus and 8 hectares 52 of Grand Crus, situated in Gevrey Chambertin and Morey-Saint-Denis. The Rousseaus take pride in their quintessentially Burgundian wines. Needles to say, the wines improve consistently year upon year, all the while holding on to their original quality, the "Rousseau signature".
The domaine has delicated itself to pinot noir, the best accessory for revealing their terroir. A singular relationship has grown between the family and this unique grape variety. A native of Burgundy, this ancient grape is the ancestor of a great many varieties, such as Chardonnay and Gamay. At the origin of the finest wines in Burgundy, Pinot is a noble grape.With its finesse, delicacy and remarkable olfactory range, it carries the subtle differences and particularities of each vineyard, expressing the distinctive nuances of the terroirs. Each wine has its own personality.
With unconditional love of burgundian terroir, delication comes an exceptional level of care, given to each process to each stag of the creation of wine. With experience of four generations, has given the Rousseau family and understanding of intricacies of each terroir, parcels & vines.
The vineyards, clay limestome soil situated on slopes with eastern or south-eastern exposures, are pruned using the Guyot system, and are tended with traditional cultivation methods. They yield between 30 & 40 hectoliters of wine per hectare.
